Virgin Hotels New Orleans Wedding: Zoey & Jason

Texas people, New Orleans wedding

Zoey and Jason are Texas people, but they let New Orleans claim them for their wedding and we’re so glad they did. They’d been here before, fallen for it, and when it was time to get married, there was only one answer. They booked the Virgin Hotels New Orleans for everything: getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, all of it.

They had everything planned out so well that they both said they weren’t nervous at all, just excited, and it totally showed. I don’t think they ever stopped smiling. Fat Cat handled the flowers, Uncommon Camellia kept the day moving, and Bittersweet Confections brought the cake. The love and joy, Zoey and Jason handled themselves.

PORTRAITS WE LOVE

The Virgin Hotels is a genuinely fun place to make portraits. The interiors are layered and warm, and there’s always something interesting in the frame – bookshelves, moody lighting, the occasional surrealist sculpture.

The bridal portraits before the ceremony are some of our favorites from the whole day.

Getting Ready & First Look

THE CEREMONY

Fat Cat transformed the ceremony space into something really beautiful. A floral arch in white florals of hydrangeas, garden roses and ranunculus set against the tropical mural on the back wall. Gold chiavari chairs, candles and florals lining the aisle. The whole room really came together.
When it was time, Zoey walked in with both her father and stepfather at her side. Their ceremony was as lighthearted as it was meaningful. There were many moments where both Zoey and Jason were cracking up. That energy carried them through to the end as they walked back down the aisle, hand in hand with smiles for days.

A Second Line to Start the Celebration

The Brasshearts Brass Band got everyone into the street and Zoey and Jason led their whole crew through downtown New Orleans. It was loud and joyful and exactly what it’s supposed to be. We ended at the steps of the Virgin Hotel where the guests set off confetti cannons which was the perfect topper to a fun second line.

THE RECEPTION

Zoey and Jason continued their day of happiness by spending the entire night on the dance floor. The Big Easy Band kept the floor packed all night, and the speeches from family had everyone in tears. The night ended with Zoey changing into a really fun sequin mini-dress and the two of them disappearing into an elevator. A perfect ending.

DETAILS TO LOVE

So many lovely details, from the florals by Fat Cat to the cake by Bittersweet Confections, everything was beautiful.

Getting to spend a whole day with people this fun and a place this good-looking is a privilege. We’re so glad they chose our city — and us. As New Orleans wedding photographers, we never get tired of days like this one.
