Elms Mansion Wedding: Laura & Aaron

A Spring wedding with a little extra sparkle
Some venues just have a feeling — the kind that wraps around you the moment you walk through the gate. The Elms Mansion on St. Charles Avenue is one of those places. Grand, romantic, and unmistakably New Orleans, it was the perfect setting for Laura and Aaron’s Spring wedding. Their day was full of the things that make a celebration unforgettable: lush florals in the softest pinks and whites by Leaf + Petal, a courtyard ceremony under a giant disco ball(!), festoon lights glowing overhead at the reception, and the Bucktown Allstars making sure the dance floor never emptied. But before any of that, it all started at the Hotel Fontenot, where the morning had a fun energy all its own.
THE FIRST LOOK
We did the first look on the rooftop courtyard at the Hotel Fontenot, and honestly? Aaron’s reaction is one for the books. The moment he turned around, his face just lit up. That kind of full-body, can’t-contain-it excitement that you simply cannot manufacture. It’s the reason we love first looks. No one was performing for a crowd. It was just the two of them, completely in their own world, and we were lucky enough to be there for it.

THE WEDDING PARTY
Laura and Aaron’s crew brought the energy from the start. Before leaving the Hotel Fontenot, we ducked into the Peacock Room for some editorial-style portraits — fun, stylish, and a little bit Vogue. The perfect warmup for the celebration ahead.

The Elms Mansion on St. Charles Avenue is one of New Orleans’ most beloved wedding venues for a reason. It needs no decoration, and yet, with Leaf + Petal’s spring florals adorning the Gazebo, it somehow got even more beautiful. We stole some time before the ceremony to take advantage of The Elms’ quiet spaces, one of the perks of doing a First Look!

THE CEREMONY

Watching Laura walk down the aisle with her dad was one of those moments that stopped time a little. Their Jewish ceremony brought a beautiful layer of meaning to everything. The ketubah signing, the traditions, the intention woven through it all. By the time they exchanged vows, there wasn’t a dry eye in the courtyard.

THE RECEPTION

As the sun went down, the courtyard transformed. Festoon lights strung overhead and the Bucktown Allstars took the stage and kept the dance floor packed all night. Everyone danced under the lights from the first song to the last, and even the groom got up on stage, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the night!
Every detail of the day was beautifully executed by the incredible team at Kelly Sherlock Events.

KIND WORDS
“Y’all were so fun to work with and made us feel so comfortable from the start (saying a lot coming from two people who usually shy away from a ton of photos). I cannot say thank you enough!!!”
